Friday, I spent the day with our consultants, Lou O’Boyle and Tim Griles from Human Dynamics Consulting working on NASDSE’s new strategic plan. The consultants have conducted more than 25 interviews with NASDSE staff, Board Members, and Past Presidents doing phase 1 of the plan. They reviewed much of our historical work and many legacy documents. Out of those responses the Board of Directors and staff were able to draft a new proposed vision and mission statement.
Yesterday we began to draft ideas for core operating principles, goals and major objectives. The board leadership team will review these draft goals/objectives and operating principles and edit as they see fit.
The next phase is for our consultants to begin working directly with the membership to do facilitated focus groups. These groups will get reactions to facilitated questions about the draft vision, mission, operating principles, goals and objectives. They will also facilitate questions about the types of activities and services the membership would value in the future. They will be conducting those focus groups at the OSEP Leadership Conference this summer. More information about signing up for these focus groups will be come soon.
The overall all goal is to have a draft strategic plan ready to present to the membership at the annual business meeting in October. The membership will vote to adopt or amend the strategic plan.
The final phase will will be to align NASDSE’s services, staff and resources to the approved strategic plan. The plan will guide our organization back to a place of excellence and relevance.
