National Association of School Psychologists is currently undergoing a review and update of our professional standards. The NASP Standards include four documents:

  • Standards for Graduate Preparation of School Psychologists

  • Standards for the Credentialing of School Psychologists

  • Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services (also known as the NASP Practice Model)

  • Principles for Professional Ethics

The purpose of this letter is to invite you and any of your association leaders or members to participate in our open comment period from April 8-May 10, 2019. We invite the feedback of both internal and external stakeholders, and believe that your opinions regarding the standards will be invaluable to the review process. In addition to providing your own feedback, could you please share this link with at least 10 leaders of your organization and invite them to provide feedback? http://www.nasponline.org/standards-and-certification/open-comment.

At this link you will be able to a) view a short video highlighting the changes to each standard; b) review the new proposed standards for each area; c) see a chart with the rationale for changes made as well as for changes considered yet not made; and d) submit your feedback via a survey link.

Feel free to contact Eric Rossen, Director of Professional Development and Standards, at (301) 657-0270 or by email at erossen@naspweb.org if you have any questions. And thank you in advance for your assistance and participation in this important project.
