NASDSE Affinity 619 Determinations Call

Important Call this Tuesday August 27th 4:30 – 5:30 ET ,

ECTA is working with NASDSE to support gathering input from the 619 coordinators on the proposed OSEP State Determinations changes for 2020.

Comments are due on August 30th, leaving a short window to gather your input on the proposed changes. Please join the call if you are able and help offer suggestions to NASDSE as they prepare comments for submission.

Attached are the questions that OSEP released in July at the Leadership conference. Comments can be accepted on any of the questions in the document but please note on page 3 the following specific preschool questions:


Preschool Outcomes

Using preschool outcomes for Part B determinations is consistent with the use of the early childhood outcomes factor that has been used for Part C determinations since 2015. In addition, including this factor emphasizes the importance of preschool outcomes in promoting later school success for students with disabilities.

Questions:

How would the inclusion of the preschool outcomes data affect your State?

Is the quality of your preschool outcome data a concern in your State?

If so, what technical assistance do you anticipate needing in order to improve the data quality?

Reminder: Comments on OSEP Determinations proposed changes are now being accepted by August 30, 2019
