CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE EDUCATION: A COURSE ENHANCEMENT MODULE (CEM) DESIGNED TO ENSURE EVERY EDUCATOR

The CEEDAR Center, an OSEP-funded technical assistance center is proud to collaborate with national organizations, technical assistance centers, and stakeholders across the country to ensure that every student with a disability has an equitable opportunity to achieve.  Teacher and leader development through policy, preparation, and program improvement is central to our mission.  Our partnership with AACTE provides an opportunity to support AACTE’s strategic focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

A number of free resources have been developed (available at ceedar.org) to improve equity and access for students with disabilities and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.  We are excited to share a new course enhancement module (CEM) on culturally responsive education.  This CEM, building on Aronson and Laughter (2016), is organized in three parts: a foundational overview, culturally responsive education in the content areas, and culturally responsive classroom and behavior management.  Presenters will provide a brief introduction to CEEDAR resources to support review and enhancement of courses and professional development offerings and highlight the Culturally Responsive Education CEM.
